By exploiting the qualities of glass that can apply to women; allure,
danger, fragility, I aim to portray the predicaments of some modern women.
I use glass to produce art works that have become more expressive of my aims ‘portraits’ of modern woman

Alison Allum creates artworks of glass and mixed media, but became interested in exploiting the allure and fragility of glass as a potent material to capture an essence of womanhood and to produce work with allusions to contemporary feminine themes. Her career as a Theatre Designer has enabled her to make ideas of femininity into portraits with a challenging and amusingly theatrical manner.
Alison Allum is based in Rochester, Kent, England and is an active member of the Just Glass Group and the Contemporary Glass Society www.just-glass.co.uk www.cgs.org.uk
